I really ought to put up some YouTube videos. Features: Analog Paraphonic Synthesizer 2 Oscillators. I had great success in running these into each of the filters at different rates and getting some really wild spacy sounds. The Dreadbox Lil Erebus is a 42HP full synth voice module based on the Erebus Analog Synthesizer. The last two oscillators can be used as LFO’s with an extremely wide range. Having an adjustable iron is also helpful so you don’t burn up pots with too much heat. For new kit builders I’d say to get comfortable with tight clearances between joints, or at least a finer solder tip. You’re building the same oscillator 8 times. You can get the instrument as DIY eurorack modular kit or the standalone version as well. If you have built a Lil Erebus I can say that this is about the same amount of solder points but is much more linear. Taking the name after the previous successor Erebus, Dreadbox launches Lil’ Erebus, a smaller version of the iconic paraphonic synth made by the Greek company. As with a lot of kits, tuning takes a bit of finesse and patience but honestly I launched right into this thing without tuning it when I finished the build and had a good deal of fun just making complex drone sounds for the first few hours. Dreadbox aimed to make a kit with few different types of components to make it a bit more straightforward - you’ll see that there are a lot of the same types of resistors, for example. It also features 16 patch points that allows you to use it with your modular gear. It took me probably 4-5 hours to solder it all up but I did it without a manual (it wasn’t out yet) and taking photos to document. What is the Lil Erebus The Lil Erebus consists of two oscillators, a 2-pole low-pass filter, an envelope generator (ADS), an LFO and the excellent voltage controlled echo effect. IMO it’s a no brainer, for the price.I built a pre-release version of the Antiphon for Dreadbox and can say that the build is very straightforward. And kind of limited, but in the right way. Ess from Elektron said if one machine is added, it’s probably gonna be a Clap one. I found Snare a bit light, but with some work you can reach OK sounds. The Chords machine is interesting, with the progressive inversions and all the chord preset… The Volume knob can be pushed to distorsion, and at this level tracks start to compete with each others…įX are OK, limited but rather good sounding.ĭelay feedback doesn’t sound good, it distorts pretty fast, but I had lot of fun with Delay time set to max (128, which is a complete loop) and mash the loop with the time parameter. Macros are well programmed, to the point that you figure you don’t really need a Filter cutoff knob (which isn’t there btw, or only hidden in macros). 0:00 / 11:15 Great Dreadbox filter Dreadbox Lil Erebus eurorack DIY - spacy sounds ludotex 1.07K subscribers Subscribe 182 18K views 4 years ago First run of the freshly built lil'Erebus. Oh, yes, there are 6 different machines, like the early Elektron. The 4 synthesis knobs (Colour, Shape, Sweep and Contour) are macros that act on several parameters, different ones for each machine. Trig conditions have a dedicated knob, that you can Live record on the fly. M:C can do retrig, which is important IMO for percussions. Is there something the M:C can do that the Digitone cannot?
